What is a mala?
A mala is a set of beads traditionally used in prayer and meditation, often called prayer beads. Anyone can wear mala beads, it is not a religious item only. Malas are made to a specific spiritual number, 108. Some associate the possibility of enlightenment with taking 108 breaths a day in deep meditation; others connect the number's significance to the heart chakra, said to have 108 energy lines leading to it.
Ganesha
Although Ganesha has many attributes, he is readily identified by his elephant head. He is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom.
